Guide for Luscious Lips.

Is it just me, or does it seem especially hard to find a good lip balm for sensitive skin?

I have only found three that really work.  One being the classic Burt's Bees lip balm and then C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve.  I love the minty smell of Burt's Bees balm and the fact that it is so smooth.  The tinted balms are good, too.  The C.O. Bigelow Rose Salve is multi-functional and is great for dry skin on all parts of the body.  The flowery smell could be an issue for some, but I really like it.  And it C.O. Bigelow lip products are often on sale at Bath and Body Works. When I looked at their site, they were buy 2 get 1 free and this also applies in store.  The lip shines are great too; they are not sticky, give a nice shine and some are tinted.  They have now added an apple rose salve, and a blueberry rose salve that I will have to try.  The last one is Beauty Rush Soothing Lip Balm from Victoria's Secret. Soothing is correct.  I always have a tin of this,  or the rose salve, near.  I love the minty scent and soothing properties in the Beauty Rush Balm.  It also comes in a pretty pink.

Korres Lip Butter: I will admit, I was a little iffy on this at first because of the consistency. Now I really like it.  It is a very smooth, buttery balm that also has color.  It comes in Wild Rose, Quince, Pomegranate and Jasmine.

C.O. Bigelow Blueberry Rose Salve: Every bit as good as the orginal, but smells better.
C.O.Bgelow Lemon Lip Balm.  Comes in a convenient stick, and is as moisturizing as the rose salve.  It goes on smoothly and smells like lemon pie.

One product that I am not sure about is Super by Perricone Lush Lips with Coconut Oil balm.  I am having an eczema flair up at the moment, so it is a little difficult to give a complete review.  But I put this on a few times this afternoon, and my lips felt very inflamed, dry and itchy.  After it wore off and I put some lipstick on, that feeling went away.  Another downside is the container and it can be a little difficult to get the product out.  It is in a pot, and the balm itself is a little hard.  However, once you get it out, it gives a nice shine that lasts a while and would be a good product for anyone with normal skin.
Update on Super by Perricone Lush Lips:  it did cause my lips to peel, itch and become inflamed. It is fine for normal skin, but not for those of us with eczema.

Blistex Lip Massage: Made my lips burn a little, but no major effects. My lips were not dried out, but the moisturizing effects did not last very long.  Plus I did not see where the ridges for the "massage" made any difference.

And of course, there is Chap Stick, which I have never liked.  Maybe I just got a bad tube, but I did not find it moisturizing at all and it was difficult to get the product on the lips.

Carmex Moisture Plus: I really liked this one.  It has an SPF and goes on clear. It is great for a day at the pool or beach.

I bought Fresh's Sugar Rose Lip Treatment yesterday.  So far I like it.  It has a nice subtle color and is very smooth.  Plus, it comes in pretty sturdy container.  It also comes in Honey, Plum and just Sugar.

Also, resist the urge to use Vaseline for dry lips. While it provides temporary relief, Vaseline actually dries skin out even more over time.

Also, make your own exfoilant for your lips by mixing sugar with olive oil.  Then wipe off with a washcloth and top it off with a balm. Another good way to get rid of dead skin is too put vaseline on your lips and scrub lightly using a toothbrush.  This also creates a good base for putting on lipstick or gloss. Add a bright pop of color to make your lips look even better.
