Banish the Shine

Having oily skin is bad enough, but having oily skin and eczema can be an absolute nightmare. There are so many products out there for oily skin and breakouts, but they can be really harsh for sensitive skin. So how do you find gentle, effective products for your oily, sensitive skin? Well, that is where I come in. Granted, what works for me may not work for you.  But I hope my experiences and tips can benefit you in some way.

First up on my products list is Neutrogena's Deep Clean Facial Cleanser(this also applies for the cream cleanser).  I just started using this a few days ago to clear up my shine and it has really helped without irritating my skin.  Instead of containing salicylic acid, this has hydroxy acid.  Hydroxy acid just acts as an exfoiliant and gets deep into pores to clean them up.  After using this, my skin feels very clean without feeling tight and my face is oil free.

Biore Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser: This will definitley get rid of any excess shine, and will actually dry out the skin too much.  This cleanser did not agree with my skin at all.  My skin became red, dry and itchy after the first use.  It made my skin burn terribly.

Murad Oil Control Mattifier:  This one does mattify really well.  An added bonus is that this has SPF 15 in addition to getting rid of excess oil.  This is the perfect day time moisturizer for oily and sensitive skin.

Make Up For Ever HD Microfinishing Powder: this is the perfect translucent powder to wear over foundation, or just alone to get rid of shine.  It works immediatley and lasts a long time. A little bit goes a long way.

SEPHORA COLLECTION Tricks of The Trade Mineral Touch Up Powder: This mattifying powder does not work as well as the Make Up For Ever powder, but it is a lot cheaper, still works well and is more convienent to carry since it is a pressed powder. It is currently on sale for $9 on Sephora's site.

Perricone MD Intensive Pore Minimizer:  While this is expensive and I am sure there are similar products on the market for a fraction of the price, this is one of my all time favorite skin care products.  It has salicylic acid and other great stuff in it to keep skin clear and make it glow.  I can always tell a difference when I use it.  It does not have a harsh smell like many other toners or astringents.  If you do get this, be sure to shake it well before using or it will not be as effective.

It always a good idea to have blotting sheets on hand. In my experience, one brand is just as good as the other.  Before applying mattifying or translucent powder during the day, use the blotting paper prior.

Try to avoid cleanser with a lotion like or milky consistency.  They can make skin even more oily.
