Review: Sonia Kashuk Moroccan Dunes Palette

1:46 PM

I went back and forth about whether I should get this palette.  After seeing a review on Youtube (I was that curious..normally I hate youtube videos) and realizing my Target only had one left, I pretty much attacked this palette.   And I am glad that I did.  I have been loving these shadows.

Shades
This is one of those palettes that will catch your eye as you walk past.  The shades are stunning and have a chrome like shine.  It comes with a light silvery shade, a rosy gold, taupe and dark brown. The rosy gold and taupe are my personal favorites.

Formula and Texture
The formula of these shadows is interesting.  They are like a powder, cream and baked shadow rolled in to one.  They do require a bit of patience to work with as there is fall out and depending on your preference, they need to be built up a bit.  Despite not being a true powder shadow, they are a bit powdery.  Luckily that does not translate to the lids, but it does cause a mess on the pacakging.  If you are not a fan of shimmer or metallic shadows, you will hate these. I am a fan of both, so I love the shadows.  They almost look glossy and shiny when applied.  I use a brush to apply them, and I notice that there will be  a few tiny flakes of shadow.  This does not translate to the eyes and blends right out.

Pigment and Staying Power
The pigment is wonderful.  The color payoff is gorgeous and the shades can be built up.  But you can also wear them on the sheer side.  Gotta love shadows that have the best of both worlds.  The staying power is also great.  Even with my cheap Wet n Wild primer, it stays on all day with minimal fading and no creasing.

Packaging and Price
A wise decision was made to let these shadows speak for themselves by housing them in a simple black palette with a mirror.  This baby is $17.

Overall Impression
Love this palette.  If you can find it, it is worth checking out. Have you tried it or want to try it?
