Ulta Haul: New Maybelline and L'Oreal Products

1:06 PM

Over the last few weeks, drugstore brands have been creating quite a buzz by releasing some seemingly awesome new products. At the top of the list are the new Maybelline Baby Lips Glosses and new shades of the matte lipsticks. Sign me right up and take my money.

I had to get a couple of shades of the new Baby Lips glosses. Obviously.  Apparently they come in different finishes and textures. Unfortantley, there is no note of that on the packaging, so I haven't the foggiest idea of which I purchased.  I do know that I got Coral Craze and Pink Pizazz. I just applied Coral Craze to my lips, and the texture is really nice. It is not thick, sticky, or goopy, and it does feel moisturizing.  So far so good. There is a subtle, fruity scent, but it is not intense. It does linger for a few minutes, though.  I can see where some would find the packaging a bit juvenile, but I think it is cute and fun. The tubes are also fun and colorful, just like their namesake balm.  So far, the only negative is how sheer these are.  There is a hint of some color, but it is extremely subtle.  But it would be good to throw on before running to the grocery store or whatever you have to do for the day. They would also be nice to give hydration to a lipstick.

I also got the shade Clay Crush from the new Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Lipsticks.  I have Divine Wine, which was released with the first batch, and loved it.  I've heard that Clay Crush might be a possible dupe, or at least similar, to Gerard Cosmetics 1995. I've only swatched Clay Crush so far, but it felt amazing and applied smoothly. The shade is reddish brown, similar to a terra cotta, but not as orange.

From the second I saw pictures of the new Color Blur Pencils, I needed them. For some reason, I've gone from an eyeshadow hoarder to lipstick. Not sure why, but it is okay.  I got Plum Please for some odd reason. It is a gorgeous vampy shade that would look killer in the fall and winter.  But I will end up wearing long before then. My-My Magenta is much more summer like and quite the stunning shade of pink. I've heard positive things about the formula and I can see why. They feel incredibly smooth and I don't see them being drying. Of course that is yet to be determined.  On the opposite side of the lipstick is a rubber-like blender. I say rubber like because I don't what the heck is actually is because I was expecting a sponge. Either way, I am curious to see how it works out.

Maybelline also has a new brow product called the Brow Satin Define & Fill Duo.  Basically what you do is use the pencil to fill in your brows, then use the sponge on the end to blend it out.  I have my doubts as to how well this will work. It feels very dry and rough. I decided to go with the color Soft Brown.

L'Oreal has released some new products from their True Match Lumi line, including the Powder Glow Illuminator.  They come in three shades, and I went with Ice for some crazy reason. I guess Rose and Golden seemed to run of the mill. You are going to want to use a light hand with this one. Otherwise, I have a feeling you will look like a frosty hot mess.

I also got my second bottle of the Mario Badescu Rose Water facial mist. That is some good stuff.

I am going to try these lovelies out over the next few days and will post my reviews next week. I hope you guys are having a fabulous Friday!
