Wet n Wild Limited Edition Pantone Inspired Spring 2016 Collection Review, Swatches, and Makeup Look8:38 AM
This spring, Wet n Wild took inspiration from Pantone's colors of the year, which means that the shades are pastels. If Easter had a makeup collection, this would be it. I don't have everything from the collection, but I do have a nice chunk of it.
For anyone in a hurry, here is a quick breakdown:
- Three Megalast Eyeliners: pretty good, fun colors, worth getting
- Geometric Highlighting Powders: meh. They are okay and I like them enough to keep using. Unless you absolutely love one of them, I would pass.
- Eyeshadow Trios: NO! The swatched fairly well, but do not perform well.
- Nail Polishes: These are a yes. Especially for Breeze on By.
I purchased all three of the Mega Last Liquid Eyeliners, and if you are a fan of fun and colorful liners, you need to pick these up. The shades are called A Case of Blue (periwinkle), Trim With Lace (white), and Violet Revolution, which is a pastel pink. The only negative thing about these liners is that they are thin and watery. If you don't have a very steady hand, it can be pretty easy to smudge them before they fully dry. Other than that, they are great. The pigment and color payoff is great for any liner, but especially for a drugstore liner. Each shade dries down to a matte finish and they stay put all day long. The applicator looks like it is a sponge, but it applies just like a typical brush applicator. Well, maybe even better.
I decided to get two of the Geometric Highlighting Powders. There is a third one, but I could tell that it wouldn't look good on me. I have Desert Expectations (a warm pink) and Where The Dreamers Go (a cool, silvery pink). I was quick to judge these because of the packaging and price. They also don't swatch very well, but I like the way the look on my skin. They might be a bit intense for a lot of people because they are very shimmery, especially Where The Dreamers Go. Desert Expectations is much easier to wear. By far the worst thing about them is the chalkiness. It does make these powders a little bit harder to blend out compared to higher end highlighting powders, but I still don't think these are bad. Texture wise, they do feel less buttery and more dense than what I like. One thing I really appreciate is that the colors don't become one big, muddled mess when you swirl them together. Thank you for that, Wet n Wild. While I do like these, I say skip them unless one really interests you.
For the highlighting powders, Is watched each color first, then below that I did a swatch of what it would look like on your cheeks.

I LOVE the nail polishes Wet n Wild did for this collection. I restrained myself to only getting one, although I regret not getting the mint green. Anyways, I have Breeze on By. It is a beautiful periwinkle blue and it is in their Megalast line. That line of nail polish is one of my favorites. This shade was a little bit thin, so I needed three coats for full opacity. The end result is well worth it, though. Plus the size and shape of the brush make it easy to apply. It isn't streaky and it dries quickly. I 100% recommend this polish.
Last but not least are the eyeshadow trios, well trio since I only have one. I love the way they look in the palette, but I am scared to try them. Wet n Wild eyeshadows are very hit and miss. And To In-Dio I Go Go is a huge miss for me. The colors are extremely sheer and barely show up. I had to keep building them to get any color payoff. They also began to crease after twenty minutes. It swatches pretty well, but don't let that fool you. The only color I see myself using the brow bone highlight, but it is very sparkly. Applying it with a light hand is key.
And now for the FOTD. I used everything expect for the highlighting powder in Desert Expectations. I hate the way this turned out, but you get to see what everything looks like. Apparently this is what happens when I don't sleep. It is currently 1:00 am on Monday and I have been awake since 9:00 am Saturday. The lipstick I used is Hard Candy's Velvet Mousse in Sweet Pea.
Besides the nail polish and eyeliners, I would way to pass on this collection. The quality of most of the products is not that great, and pastel shades can be tricky to work with.
What do you think of this collection?
