Review and Swatches of NYX Cosmetics Electro Liner in Powerlines and Coastal6:13 AM
While we are on the topic of eyeliners I am not crazy about, I figured I would go ahead and review one of NYX's newest products. I love NYX for many reasons. I think the main one is that they offer such a wide variety of bright colors and formulas that no one else does at a drugstore price. I was hoping these would be like the pencil version of their Vivid Brights liquid liners, which are amazing. Sadly, that is not the case.
The Electro Liners come in a lot of fun shades and have a matte finish, but I stuck with two. Powerlines is a neon yellow and Coastal is an aqua blue. I bought these primarily to use as a fun pop of color along my lower lash line or in the waterline. The colors are lovely, but that is about it.
They are are not soft and have a drier texture. Obviously that makes them a pain to apply, especially in the waterline. They do tug pretty badly. I will say that this becomes less of an issue with more use. They have softened up quite a bit since I first bought them, but it is still bothersome. The pigment is absolute crap, though. There is no help for that. I have to go over the same line what feels like 20 times to get any kind of color payoff. That is true for both shades, but it is even worse with Powerlines. In fact, you can't even see Powerlines on me. If you apply them directly to your skin, these actually have decent staying power. On the waterline, they disappear within an hour or two.
For my swatches, I did apply a few layers so you can actually see what the colors look like. They applied a lot easier on my arm than on my eye, which is a shame. These liners could have been something great, but they just miss the mark for me big time.
The packaging isn't the greatest, either. I do like that the color of the packaging matches the color of the liner inside. That makes it a lot easier to find. The packaging is made out of plastic, but it doesn't feel very durable. It bends pretty easily and doesn't do a great job of protecting the product. In fact, Powerlines has already broken in half.
Fortunately they are not expensive. The Electro Liners are $4.50 and many NYX products are on sale for BOGO 50% off. You can also use their $3.50 off of $15 towards them if they are something you still want to try out.
By the way, does anyone else think of A Goofy Movie thanks to Powerlines? I hope I am not the only one.
I hope ya'll have a great Monday and I will see you soon!
