New Product Try On: Cranberry Eyes and Vampy Lips (Wet n Wild, Sonoa Kashuk, Daylogic)12:52 PM
Happy September, everybody! I feel like a new person now that I see leaves starting to fall and I can feel a change in the air. I come alive this time of year because it isn't so stinking hot and humid. Plus today is my mom's birthday and Starbucks is releasing their Spicy Chile Mocha. So it is a good day. =)
I went full on fall vamp yesterday. I FINALLY found Wet n Wild's fall collection while shopping for my mom, so I picked up the last two pieces I wasn't able to order online. I also purchased some new makeup brushes by Rite Aid's in house brand and I decided to try out Sonia Kashuk's new foundation as well.
1.) To prep my skin, I used Becca's Backlight Priming Filter. This was my first time using it. I had a travel size one that came in a kit from Ulta. My skin was feeling a little drier than usual, so I thought the added luminosity would be good. Boy, that stuff is intense! It has a gorgeous effect on the skin, but it is not for me. It made me feel pretty greasy, but nowhere near as bad as I expected. I only had to touch up once.
2.) Now for some under eye love. I received the The Estee Edit's Late Night Eraser Brightening Eye Balm from Influenster. I didn't expect this to become a favorite product of mine, but this is a really nice eye cream. It is hydrating, non-irritating, and my eyes do look a little more awake. I can tell more of a difference with this than with my other favorites. To prep my lids, I used the Milani Eyeshadow Primer, which is my current favorite.
3.) For my eyeshadow, I used Wet n Wild's new limited edition trio in Velour Vixen. I used the cranberry shade in the crease and the cream shade on the lid and brow bone. I mixed in the darkest shade with the cranberry and applied it along the lower lash line. For $2.99, this is actually a pretty good palette. The only negative I noticed was that the cranberry color was a little bit patchy.
The brush I used was the dual ended eyeshadow brush by Daylogic from Rite Aid. I really like it! One end is a fluffy brush and the other one is a small dome brush.
4.) For my eyeliner, I used M.A.C's Fluidline in Dip Down. I used the Daylogic angled liner brush to apply and I liked that one as well. It took a little bit to get used to it because I typically don't use a brush, but it went well.
5.) The mascara I used was Max Factor's Masterpiece Max, which is my new jam.
6.) I tried out Sonia Kashuk's brand new Soft Focus Matte foundation. My first impression was pretty good. It seemed to have light coverage that can be built (not 100% sure yet) and it felt lightweight. It did have a fairly strong scent, though. I also like that it has a pump. The finish is indeed satin: not too mate, but not dewy, either. I used another Daylogic brush to apply it. It is a buffing brush, but it has a sponge in the center. You apply the foundation to the sponge, then apply it on your face. It sheds horribly! I also wish it were larger. It took a little longer to cover my whole face. It is a cool concept, but the quality wasn't there. I also think it sheered out the foundation a little bit.
7.) To highlight, I attempted to use the highlighter from Kardashian Beauty's No Apologizes Face Kit in Werk It. The highlighter is so dense that a brush doesn't pick it up and it is hard to get enough to apply to the skin. The pigment itself is good, in fact, it would actually make a better eyeshadow than a highlighter.
8.) On my lips I used the new Wet n Wild Color Icon Liquid Lipstick in Don't Be a Plum-Plum. The color itself is stunning and it is incredibly long lasting. It does feel drying and it is uneven. I had to apply it three times to get even coverage.
I know looks like this are too intense for the vast majority of people, but I am pretty much obsessed with them. I have a lot more new products to share with you guys, so expect more posts like this in the future. This way you get to see them in action while also getting a little mini-review.
Let me know if you like these kind of posts!
I hope you are having a great week so far!
