First Impressions and Swatches of Revlon's Colorstay Creme Eye Shadow in Chocolate and Caramel

5:27 PM

You should be seeing these new Revlon cream eyeshadows popping up in stores. I honestly had no clue they were even releasing these until I was in Walmart and just happened to see them on the shelf. Revlon is typically a brand that doesn't work for me and I also tend to dislike cream shadows. However, I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised by these so far.

I picked out two shades that I knew I would wear and that I think a lot of people will buy. I know a lot of people will be curious about these, so I wanted to go ahead and do a quick post about them.

Caramel is a beautiful, shimmery bronze. Chocolate is a matte, deep brown. They are stunning and pair well together or with other shadows.

I really like the texture of these. They are very creamy and lightweight. As a result, they apply and blend pretty easily. This is probably one of the easiest formulas to work with as far as cream eyeshadows go. The color payoff is great, too. Considering how thin and lightweight they feel, I didn't really expect the pigment to be as good as it is. One of my biggest issues with cream shadows is the creasing that often goes along with them. I have worn each shade a few times and I have experienced no creasing or fading at all. They don't accentuate any fine lines on my eyelid, either. I have also used the shade Chocolate as an eyeliner and it worked just as well.

Revlon did something a little unique, and also something that I expected to be rather useless. They included a little brush that snaps into the cap. I didn't think I would have any use for this. However, the brushes are actually handy and apply the shadow very well. They are the perfect size and it saves me from having to dirty up one of my other brushes. Plus it is handy to have the brush attached to the product itself. Knowing me, I would have already lost both brushes otherwise.

So far, I am very impressed with these new cream shadows. In fact, this is the first Revlon product I have ever liked. So far I have only seen these at Walmart, but they should be popping up in drugstores very soon.

  1. I love this post, very nice colors. Revlon also doesn't really work me either, I'm not sure what it is about them.

    1. Thank you! I'm glad you liked it. Yeah, I am not sure why their products tend not to work for me. I am just glad I am not the only one.

  2. Thanks for this review! I was curious about these - can't wait to get my hands on them. The brush does seem like it'd be useless but glad it's handy.

    1. You're welcome! I was shocked that the brush was useful. Most of the time I just throw them away and use my own. I hope you like them!

  3. Revlon's best products seem to be their foundations and lipsticks. Good to hear that they finally have a good shadow.

    1. Yeah..their eyeshadows have (or had) a tendency to be a little crappy. These are really nice, though.
