Makeup Revolution Retro Luxe Matte Lip Kit in Grandee10:31 AM
I like to browse the 'New Arrivals" page on Ulta's site quite frequently so I can stay updated. I got so excited when I aw that Makeup Revolution had lip kits. Obviously my first that was that it could be a possible dupe for more expensive versions. Well, it sure as heck isn't.
I went with the color Grandee, which is a light pink. The color is beautiful, but I despise the formula.
The liner is okay. It has good color payoff and it applies pretty easily. It has a creamy texture and doesn't tug. However, it does make your lips look pretty dry and it accentuates any lines. It also doesn't seem to help prolong the wear time of the lip color.
|Liner only, lipstick only, both.|
The liquid lipstick is a complete miss for me. It does apply well and it has beautiful color payoff, but that is where its positive attributes end. As far as formula, it just doesn't work for me at all. It never dries down, even after five hours. It always has this awful stickiness to it that drives me insane. I own plenty of lip glosses that are not even this sticky. Even though it stays sticky, it feels (and looks) drying. My lips end up looking so dry that it appears they will fall off if a crack a smile. By the end of the day, the product starts to crumble and peel off at the center. It just isn't a comfortable product. Lipstick is supposed to give you some added confidence and this has the exact opposite effect on me. I have to use a lip scrub to remove any remaining traces and slather on lip balm afterwards.
The only I thing I do really like is the packaging. It has beautiful rose gold accents. The price would be great if the product were good. These are $9.00, but you would be better off putting that money towards the Kylie Lip Kits or the Huda Beauty liquid lipsticks, which are a thousand times better. Or even just the Wet n Wild Catsuit liquid lipsticks, which are really good.
If you are interested in trying these, Ulta does have all Makeup Revolution products BOGO 50% off right now. I do have some more Makeup Revolution products that I am trying out and so far those seem really promising.
