Review and Swatches of Lorac's Pirates of the Caribbean Cheek Palette

I LOVE Pirates of the Caribbean. Well, I love pretty much any movie Johnny Depp is in, but that is beside the point. I was elated when I saw the promo images for Lorac's Pirates of the Caribbean Collection. Initially I wanted to get everything, but once I saw the products in store, I only purchased the cheek palette.

There are 6 cheek powders in this palette: 3 new shades of their Color Source Buildable Blush and 3 shades of the Light Source Illuminating Highlighters.  They are paraben free and contain anti-aging ingredients such as vitamin E, vitamin A, and vitamin C.

So, I didn't actually expect to love this palette. Of course I wanted it to be good, but I never expected it to be amazing. I've never tried Lorac's blush or highlighter formula, so I wasn't even sure what to expect. The powders have great color payoff, but you can make them more subtle or as intense as you like. In typical Lorac fashion, the powders are very soft, smooth, and buttery. That being said, they are powdery and kick up quite a bit of product just like Lorac's eyeshadows. You will have to tap off the excess product off of your brush before applying. All of the powders blend really well and they don't accentuate your pores or any imperfections. They are not chalky and they might be powdery, but they don't look like it once applied.

The blushes have the perfect amount of pigment. I hate pigmented blushes because they are hard to to work with and I can look like a clown really quickly. These blushes are not like that. In fact, buildable is a very appropriate term to describe them. You can make them as sheer or as bold as your like. Lost Soul isn't really a suitable blush color for me, but I do like using it to bronze or lightly contour. Caribbean is the perfect dusty rose, making it perfect for everyday wear. The highlighters don't have chunks of shimmer or glitter, but they are still shiny. They look very smooth on the skin and don't create that weird zebra stripe that some highlighters do.

I love the packaging of this palette. It is very sleek and lightweight, but still sturdy. The plastic insert that protects the blushes and highlighters has the phases of the moon on it, which is an amazing and unique touch. Normally, limited edition collections like this are not the best quality, but Lorac hit it out of the park with this palette. I'm glad I took pictures before I started using it because now the palette looks a hot mess from where I have used it so much.

This palette is $30 and you can find it at Ulta and on Lorac's website. Clearly if you are a Pirates of the Caribbean fan, you need this. Even if you aren't a fan, the formula and colors are so good, you don't want to pass it up.
